Project Story:

The clients for this project had just finished a renovation of another old home, so they were familiar with the quirks of older homes and the renovation process. When they were transferred to Brattleboro, VT, they purchased an old house in a great location. They  decided fixing up the dated and damaged kitchen would be their first move in making this new old house their own. This complete kitchen renovation involved new cabinets, countertops, windows (including a 3-panel Marvin lift and slide door), flooring, tile, lighting, and appliances (including an induction cooktop). We took a segmented series of spaces and transformed them into functional work spaces with ample storage and an open feel.

An addition off the kitchen provides a sitting spot and views from both rooms look out over the pool and meadows. Electric-based heat pumps replaced an old, failing boiler to provide heating and air conditioning in this part of the house. This kitchen /dining room that hadn't been touched in years is now a bright, contemporary workspace and gathering space for this couple to enjoy each day and to share with their grown kids during visits of their blended, extended family.
